Welcome to Panther Connect - Connecting Panthers World Wide...

A well-grounded planned giving program can do much to assure the future of your institution. If the institution can be named in just a few wills each year, in five or 10 years a significant benefit will begin to accrue to the institution.
Many within the Prairie View Family have amassed investment property and other real estate, and maybe taxes and maintenance costs are rapidly increasing. A gift of real estate to the university can unlock hidden income, eliminate the hassles of a sale, and support your institution.

When you donate property outright, you receive an immediate charitable contribution deduction or the full fair market value of the property. Gifts of appreciated property held for more than a year are deductible up to 30 percent of the adjusted gross income. If you can not take the full deduction in the year the gift is made, you have five more years to do so.

A gift of your personal residence can also be made while you still retain the right to live in the home for the rest of your life. A retained life estate assigns ownership of your property to the university upon your death and the death of named beneficiaries. Due to the significant planning in declaring a gift of this magnitude, we recommend consulting a financial advisor, tax consultant or attorney to assist in this process. For general questions regarding real estate or major gifts to the university, contact Nelson Bowman in the PVAMU Office of Development at (936) 261-1550.
